Having Sleep Troubles? There’s an App for That!

Monday, June 11, 2012

imageA new app for the Android, developed by two sleep-deprived college students, aims to help people get some shut-eye. Jane Zhu and Edison Wang, co-creators of the Sleep Bot, were constantly getting to bed late and waking up too early so they developed a tool to help them figure out how much sleep they were missing each night. Although they didn’t start out trying to form a tech start-up, when the Sleep Bot reached 80,000 active users a start-up was born.

The Sleep Bot allows users to track their sleep on a daily basis and generates a sleep report card displaying total rest time; cumulative sleep debt, average nightly sleep and most frequent to bed and wake times. The app’s originators are hoping to incorporate accelometer readings in the apps reports. The app also provides sleep tips and an alarm clock.
